We are very excited about restarting the Freedom From Religion Foundation - Valley of the Sun Chapter!

This event will include social activities, talks from FFRF Director of Strategic Response Andrew Seidel, FFRF-VSUN President Zenaido Quintana and Secular Coalition for Arizona Director of Government Affairs Tory Roberg. We will also have an open discussion regarding future plans for the local group's activities. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Andrew Seidel's Bio: Andrew L. Seidel is a constitutional and civil rights attorney, activist, atheist, author, and former Grand Canyon tour guide. As the Director of Strategic Response at the Freedom From Religion Foundation, Andrew works to ensure that the government obeys the First Amendment and that Jefferson’s “Wall of Separation” between state and church remains tall and impregnable. His first book, "The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism is Un-American" (https://www.amazon.com/Founding-Myth-Christian-Nationalism-American/dp/1454933275), debunks the myths underlying Christian nationalism and hits shelves in May 2019.

Andrew's talk: "Defending our First Freedom: Why fighting for state-church separation is so important." The wall of separation between state and church is under assault from all directions. Many Americans fail to understand why the Constitution's promise of a secular government is so critical. Andrew seeks to cure that misunderstanding and tell a few war stories from his time as a watcher on that wall.

How you can help: We are very excited about restarting the Freedom From Religion Foundation - Valley of the Sun chapter. We have ideas on the types of activities that we will focus on and we need your input on what you would like to see. We will also be applying for non-profit status and reestablishing ourselves as an FFRF chapter in good standing. Among the activities we are considering are billboards, mass press releases, legal pressure on violators of constitutional church/state separation guarantees, etc. All of these will require both volunteer and financial support. Please consider partnering with us to bring the focus and determination that FFRF is famous for back to the state of Arizona where it is sorely needed by signing up as an FFRF national member, if you have not yet done so, and by adding to your gift so that we can carry on the work of FFRF at the local level.

If you are already an FFRF national member, you can be a part of reestablishing our local presence by donating what you can either at any of our upcoming events or by mailing a check made out to Secular Communities for Arizona, marked "For use by FFRF-VS" to our treasurer, Julia Wright, at PO Box 19258, Phoenix, AZ 85005.

Because we have not yet secured our 501(c)3 status, we cannot yet open a checking account. Secular Communities for Arizona has agreed to serve as our Fiscal Sponsor to allow us to use their 501(c)3 to raise funds for our start-up activities. Just mark your checks "For FFRF-VS" and the money will be held exclusively for our use. Your contribution will be fully tax-deductible.

Let's get this going strong again!

Free and open to the public.
