Poetry Evening with Anastasia Dubinina

Details
I invite you to join me for an intimate evening exploring the spaces between languages, cultures, and identities through poetry. This won't be just a reading — it's a conversation about what happens when Russian memory meets English present, when inherited vocabularies clash with acquired ones.
I'll be sharing poems that investigate the political dimensions of language choice and the strange alchemy that occurs when displacement becomes creative fuel. Living between cultures has taught me that poetry can become a bridge — sometimes precarious, always illuminating.
The evening will include:
- New poetry exploring linguistic resistance and cultural reclamation
- Interactive discussion about writing between inherited and acquired languages
- Q&A session on translation ethics and the future of multilingual poetry
My novel "Anonymous Letters" recently won the Creativitys UK Award (April 2025). I believe literature should be participatory, not passive, and I'm always experimenting with formats to engage audiences more directly.
Come prepared to think differently about what poetry can do when it refuses to stay in one language, one culture, or one easy definition. I'm looking forward to sharing this space with you.
