Walk and explore the gardens at Cranbourne, an award-winning botanic park focused on Australian native flora - and sometimes a wallaby or kangaroo in the surrounds.

This will be a walk lead casually by Michael, a Canadian landscape architect/heritage consultant with a lot of local plant knowledge, accompanied by Lana, a visual artist and musician.

We combine a love of nature, ecology and art, and we welcome neurodiverse minds, plant lovers, fans of literature and science, fellow nerds and introverts to come along to talk and learn about the plants, trees and more as we walk. You’re welcome to bring your camera or a book you’re enjoying if you’d like to, or just bring yourself.

The idea is to spend time outside, make likeminded friends and re-connect with the natural world.

We will stop for lunch or snacks or coffee - there is a restaurant and facilities at the location, but we will also bring snacks to share, and invite attendees to bring lunch or snacks if they wish.

Getting there: for those who need it, we can pick you up from Cranbourne station and take you to/from the Gardens.

We also invite anyone else who’s coming with a car to help pick up/drop off fellow attendees if numbers are high, as we know Cranbourne may be a little far afield for some: you’re very welcome to send us a message if you need a lift from the station, and also if you have a car and are comfortable helping others - but there’s no pressure for the latter.

Times are flexible: the location closes at 5, and we will run the walk from 1-4, but it’s fine if you want to leave early or if you would like a little more time exploring.

For those getting picked up from the station, we will meet around 12:30pm. For those meeting us at the location, we will meet at the entrance at 1pm.
