Experience Builder Workshop: Mock Environmental Field Experience
Details
ðŸ’MOCK CASE STUDY: Proposed Development Near a Wetland Edge
This Zoom session simulates a real environmental field review. Participants observe a site, document environmental conditions, and discuss potential conservation concerns together.
The goal is practice. Attendees analyze photos, aerial imagery, and site details. Each person records observations and contributes to a group discussion about what environmental professionals would look for during a field visit. Participants learn from each other while practicing environmental observation and documentation skills.
Breaking into environmental science, conservation, sustainability, or ecology often requires experience before someone receives their first job opportunity. Many early career professionals struggle to gain that experience.
This session introduces the Experience Builder, an initiative from Terra on the Bench Studios designed to help people build documented environmental experience independently.
Participants learn how to approach environmental field observation, how professionals record site conditions, and how to translate those observations into basic environmental documentation.
The workshop also explains the Experience Builder system. The program shows how individuals create applied environmental experience through structured projects that mirror real field work, environmental research, and compliance review. Participants learn how their work can be documented and credited through Terra on the Bench Studios when project standards are met.
The session is collaborative. Attendees share observations, compare interpretations, and discuss how environmental professionals evaluate landscapes in real field settings.
