You might remember us by our former name, Melbourne Arthouse Movie Group. We’re back — with a new name, a broader vision, and an even more inclusive approach to the films we explore.

Our members have curated a living list of canonical and contemporary directors. Every fortnight, we collectively choose one filmmaker and focus on two of their key works for the next meetup.

Important note: we don’t watch the films together. This isn’t a screening club — it’s a discussion group. You watch the films beforehand, dive into articles or interviews if you like, and then join us for rich conversation.

Our sessions range from thoughtful analysis to lively (and occasionally heated) debate. We explore everything: cinematography, narrative structure, editing, sound, performance, political context, reception, and legacy. No angle is off-limits if it deepens our understanding of film as an art form.
