Scriptateria Writers Group - Writers Helping Writers

Scriptateria is a bi-monthly meeting of active TV and Feature screenwriters where we will have a table read of their work. Those attending will be asked to read the dialogue of certain characters or be the narrator for action. Actors are invited.

FORMAT
During the first read of the month, several writers will bring their first ten pages that are ready for feedback. Each writer will have a half hour. The writer will read the logline. The group will vocalize the 10 pages and then there will be feedback to the writer.
During the second read of the month, 2 or 3 writers will bring approximately 30 pages that will be vocalized and feedback given.

DATES
At this time, the meet-ups will be on Tuesdays at Cafe Rodeoia Campo dos Martires de la Patria, in the cafe.

The group is limited to 18 people per meet up.

PARTICIPATE
Please RSVP on the Meetup. To have your pages read, please leave the name of your project and break out how many readers you will need for your characters. A good guideline is to have the main characters read individually and to have multiple minor male or female characters batched together. List any special characters that may have an accent.
Example:
My Greatest Script
I need a 1 narrator, 2 main male characters, 3 main female characters and 1 for misc minor female characters for a total of 7 readers for the 30 pages.
Special characters: 1 French male, 1 Nigerian female
We will do our best to bring characters alive that may not be of our nationality

DOs
Give constructive criticism to help the writer refine the script.
Keep your feedback short.
If you didn’t have time to give feedback, please ask to contact the writer.
Buy a drink ir eat to support the cafe.

DON’T
Criticize the subject matter as you don’t know where the story is going.
Interject politics.
Criticize nationalities, nations, races, gender preferences.
