Broadstairs and Botany Bay Summer Photowalk

Details

We have had a great summer so far and it would be good to start the August bank holiday weekend with a trip to the beach ( for those of us who do not have other bank holiday plans already :)) !

An afternoon and evening spent walking from Broadstairs to Botany Bay , taking in the town of Broadstairs , its harbour and small pier before walking along the Viking trail to Botany Bay, one of the most beautiful (IMHO) sandy beaches in England

We will pass Joss Bay, Viking Bay, Stone Bay and Kingsgate Bay along the way. After spending some time on the beach at Botany Bay we will head back to Broadstairs.

The walk is about 2.5 miles one way , so roughly 6 miles of walking on the whole. We will walk slow , allowing ample opportunity for chats and photographs. This should be a photo walk with something for everybody - street photography, landscape / seascape photography, documentary photography. The weather predictions are good with temperatures predicted to be between 19 and 21 C with some chances of cloud but no rain. It can and will be a windy, so please be appropriately dressed

Suggested itinerary :

11:40am South Western Train from London St Pancras to Broadstairs (please purchase your own train tickets)
13:03 Arrive Broadstairs
13:03 to 14:30 Explore Broadstairs including Fish and Chips , or whatever you fancy
14:30 to 16:30 Walk along the Viking trail to Botany Bay, stopping at multiple points for photography
16:30 to 18:00 Spend time at Botany Bay
18:00 start walk back to Broadstairs, OR walk ahead to Margate ( some of us might want to walk to Margate and take a train from there. Botany Bay is approximately half way between Broadstairs and Margate)
19:30 Well earned Dinner/Drinks ( those who wish to stay back)

I will be around to navigate people and suggest hourly meeting points but people are absolutely free to do their own thing. You may chose a different route / means to get to Broadstairs and that is absolutely fine. Some might not be able to stay the whole day and that is fine too. We are making a lazy late morning start from London so we can hopefully see the sunset on our way back.

There is no charge for the walk as you will be paying for your train tickets. Please do change your RSVP if you can not make it :)
