Queerolé! & Friends is an exciting new queer flamenco inspired film night, hosted by Patricia Langa with guest host Carl Harrison. The evening will feature two captivating short films:
🎬 Queerolé! – Directed, choreographed and performed by Patricia Langa, and co-produced with Courtney Nettleford.
🎬 Finding Duende – Directed by and starring Dairy King, with the support of the cast from Cabrolé! Project, the latest venture by Eric Longa Company.
About the Films:
🌟 Queerolé! follows Patricia Langa on a journey to reconnect with her Spanish heritage. Traveling through time, she delves into the gender politics of flamenco’s queer history, encountering real and fictional figures who challenged or upheld gender norms. Through dance, drag, mime, and music, Patricia brings to life the voices of those who shaped flamenco into one of the most expressive and liberating art forms in the West.
🌟 Finding Duende follows Dairy King on a mission to discover Duende—the elusive spirit that flamenco dancers long for. But a humorous misunderstanding complicates the journey… You’ll have to see it to find out more!
After the films, the stunning Carl Harrison will host a short but exciting Q&A with the two filmmakers, offering deeper insights into their work!
To close the evening with the full energy and passion of flamenco, we’ll finish with a live flamenco music and dance set featuring:
