Our Country's Good - Play Reading at the Upper Place

Details

Join us to read through a play, script in hand. You don't need to memorise any lines, but you'll get the chance to read, and bring as much character and performance to your reading as you like. You don't have to read aloud if you don't want to, and there's no expectation of ability - we're an encouraging, good-natured group!

This week we're reading the second part of Our Country's Good by the fantastically named Timberlake Wertenbaker. It's set in Australia, in the first colony of British convicts. Warning - it's dark, as it explores the tensions between the convicts and the naval officers running the prison/colony - all as trapped as each other.

You'll find us in the meeting room at the Upper Place, a communal space and food hall above Nag's Head market on Seven Sisters Rd. Facilities available include multiple food stalls, coffee shop, water, a bar (alcohol only available if you order food - it's a licencing thing), and toilets.

You will need:

- a digital or physical copy of the text (see above)
- enthusiasm for theatre
