How to Have Meaningful Discussions with Loved Ones About Divisive Issues

Details

If you are someone who has an easy time talking with all your loved ones about the issues of our time, then congratulations and carry on! For the rest of us, being able to talk with our nearest and dearest about issues that matter greatly to us can be a life long challenge, and in some cases even cause for a fracturing of the relationship.

It's my belief that our effectiveness as activists will forever be reduced to our ability to engage our loved ones in a meaningful discussion about traditionally divisive issues. Whether you agree or not, learning more from people about ways to communicate that unite vs divide us will always be time well spent.

Now here is Adam's brief profile:

Adam H. Kol, J.D. is a Couples Financial Counselor. He helps couples make sure that the money conversation doesn't get in the way, leading to more peace, love, and cash!

Adam draws on over a decade of experience as a Certified Mediator and a former Tax Attorney and Financial Advisor. He received his law degree from Duke and a Master's in Tax Law from NYU.

Adam’s work is informed by perspectives of equity and social justice. He’s an experienced community organizer, as well as a lifelong musician -- you can find his Personal Finance Parodies on YouTube!
