For HI professionals laying the groundwork or aiming to get a head start on big goals, this 4-part workshop series is designed to empower you with the financial foundations to THRIVE (not just survive) on island.

Join us for session 4 (the final workshop of this series and 2025), a lunch ‘n learn, while we:

  • Stay on track with your plan and build lasting financial freedom

This session will also feature a guest speaker, John Van Atta, who is a trust and estate attorney, and he'll be walking us through the "L.I.F.E" framework to building wealth and protecting legacy.

Claudia Chen is a financial advisor dedicated to helping HI professionals lay strong financial foundations. Through her "THRIVE, Not Survive" workshop series, she empowers attendees to build bulletproof financial plans and invest strategically. Claudia is passionate about equipping others with the tools they need to not just survive—but thrive—on their journey toward financial independence.

John Van Atta is an estate planning, probate and trust attorney and partner with the law firm of Reese & Van Atta in Honolulu, Hawaii. With over 16 years of experience, John has advised hundreds of individuals, families, and business owners on estate and business planning.

John brings a depth of experience counseling clients on a range of matters from fundamental estate planning, such implementing wills and living trusts, to more complex estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax strategies.

John enjoys working closely with clients, learning about and understanding their family and financial backgrounds and goals, and helping to guide and educate them on strategies and tools to create a safe and secure plan for the future.

John received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and is a member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the Real Property, Trust, and Estates Section of American Bar Association.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their two cats, Chunk and Nina.
