The Psychology of Money - RESCHEDULED to Feb 20th

Details

Doing well with money isn’t necessarily about what you know. It’s about how you behave. And behavior is hard to teach, even to really smart people.

Money―investing, personal finance, and business decisions―is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together.

In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money and teaches you how to make better sense of one of life's most important topics.

WHAT TO READ
There is only one edition, published in 2020. It's around 250 pages so we should be able to cover the entire book.

SOME GENERAL RULES FOR THIS BOOK CLUB:

SAFE ENVIRONMENT
Personal finance can be a difficult subject for some people to discuss, so please be kind and courteous. We won’t tolerate hate speech, bullying, or degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity. We also want to respect everyone’s privacy. What happens at book club stays at book club!

BE INVOLVED
Nobody can force you to read the book we’ll be discussing, but we hope you’ll try. Not every book will connect with everyone, but hopefully, there will be at least one new idea you can take away. You’re also not expected to participate in the discussion, but everyone has unique opinions and life experiences – and we think yours are as valuable as anyone else’s!

NO-SHOWS
Please be considerate of others on the waiting list when an event is full. If you’ve signed up but can no longer attend, update your RSVP as soon as possible to allow others the opportunity to join. Members who are no-shows more than twice will be removed from the group.
