Most of us don’t know how to spend money. We chase things that impress others but leave us cold. Or we save endlessly, afraid to spend on what would actually make life better. We confuse admiration with envy, comfort with excess, and utility with status.

The Art of Spending Money, by Morgan Housel, doesn't provide budgets, hacks, or one-size-fits-all solutions. It gives you understanding of how your relationship with money shapes your decisions—and how to reshape it so money works for you.

We previously read Housel's "The Psychology of Money", which focused on how we can grow wealth. His new book focuses on how we can use it.

WHAT TO READ
This book was recently published, so there is only one edition.

SOME GENERAL RULES FOR THIS BOOK CLUB:

SAFE ENVIRONMENT
Personal finance can be a difficult subject for some people to discuss, so please be kind and courteous. We won’t tolerate hate speech, bullying, or degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity. We also want to respect everyone’s privacy. What happens at book club stays at book club!

BE INVOLVED
Nobody can force you to read the book we’ll be discussing, but we hope you’ll try. Not every book will connect with everyone, but hopefully, there will be at least one new idea you can take away. You’re also not expected to participate in the discussion, but everyone has unique opinions and life experiences – and we think yours are as valuable as anyone else’s!

NO-SHOWS
Please be considerate of others on the waiting list when an event is full. If you’ve signed up but can no longer attend, update your RSVP as soon as possible to allow others the opportunity to join. Members who are no-shows more than twice will be removed from the group.
