Ladies On The Loose!

Roseville, CA

Ladies On The Loose!

Hello and welcome to our wonderful group, Ladies on the Loose!

Looking for like-minded "50-70 something" ladies to socialize and travel with? Let's get together and plan some great adventures! Day trips, cruises, or a weekend in San Francisco. Anything is possible when a group of focused ladies get together. This is our opportunity to carry out our "bucket list"...

Karen Ramos is our organizer. Sue S began this group over 4 years ago - and we owe her a great thanks to offering women of the somewhat "older" variety a place to meet like-minded women for various activities - travel, movies, wine tasting, dancing, and anything else that involves smiling and laughing together! Let's keep the adventures going for a lot more years of fun activities!

The intention of the group is to bring together ladies between the ages of 50 - ?? from the greater Sacramento area who like to socialize. This includes local events, movie nights, day trips, plays, dinners, hiking, biking, kayaking, golf, wine tasting , weekend getaways and even extended vacations and cruises. We also do some volunteering! The list is endless.

We welcome all your suggestions and we encourage each of our members to be active and post activities. Please let Karen Ramos (or any of the event hosts) know your ideas and we will help you turn it into an event! We encourage everyone to host something and post their ideas. We are a pretty energetic group of women so look forward to your ideas and participation!

All members must post a profile picture of the themselves. This is more of a safety issue and concern as it will enable all of us members to know who is attending our events. This is especially important if members open their homes for activities. Please comply with this request. Please contact Karen Ramos if there are circumstances where posting your picture may be a risk to you - we understand that this happens!

Membership dues are $6.00 per calendar year and are not pro-rated or refundable. Once membership is approved you have Sixty Days from approval date to submit your dues. If dues are NOT submitted within that time period it will be assumed you do not want to join and you will be removed from this membership.

We do use the online dues payment tool from Meetup. The link for payment is located on our website. Please contact Karen Ramos if you have any questions.

When you RSVP "yes" for an event, please, do so conscientiously. If you are unable to attend you may change your RSVP or email the Organizer / host directly up to 48 hours PRIOR to an event date - cancellation later than 48 hours prior may be counted as a "no show" (we know there can be extenuating circumstances and will take that into consideration). If you accumulate 3 "no shows" you may be dropped from the group. Thank you for understanding and complying. Please note this is extremely important, especially if there is a wait-list where we have to limit the number of people attending. This will enable other members, who would love to attend these events, to do so.

If you commit to an event and it costs money such as a hotel, play, or concert tickets you are committed to pay even if you have to cancel assuming the tickets and reservations have already been made. In addition; if you carpool, the riders should offer to pay gas to the driver. Please be considerate.

Finally, for events occurring in the home (or venue) of a member, please be considerate in your behavior - this includes (especially) events that include alcohol. Ladies on the Loose and its members do not accept any liability for any behavior that leads to injury or more...

Please email Karen Ramos ( if you have questions, ideas, or concerns. Thank you for your interest and looking forward to meeting you at the next event!

GOLDEN SOLES - an Over-50 Hiking & Walking Group

Citrus Heights, CA

GOLDEN SOLES - an Over-50 Hiking & Walking Group

Golden Soles is an OVER-50, NO DOGS, WEEKDAYS ONLY hiking and brisk walking group. Our hikes are in SMALL GROUPS in order to support the community spirit of Meetup and increase our awareness of one another (safety). As a member, you’re expected to: 1) Follow all safety requests from your Hike/Walk Leader, 2) Be aware of your fellow hikers/walkers, and 3) “Leave No Trace”.

- - - - - - - - - - -

Golden Soles welcomes enthusiastic over-50 hikers looking to indulge in the sport of Social Group Hiking or Walking. We are NOT a speed-hiking group and we stay together throughout the hike, though we DO keep a fair pace going and our cardio pumping! We work up a sweat but we also take the time to enjoy the beauty of our surroundings! Please familiarize yourself with our THREE TYPES OF HIKES AND WALKS listed below.

Golden Soles honors the concept of Meetup to meet face-to-face in “real time” and share actual conversation with others interested in the sport of social group hiking and walking. In addition to the fitness component of hiking/walking, we also take the time for photo breaks, chit-chat, moments of awesomeness, snacks, and general breath-catching-up!

- - - - - - - - - - -

1) BRISK WALKS – terrain is on smooth paved multi-use trails such as asphalt, concrete or gravel with most trails offering a soft shoulder on both sides. Average speed is a BRISK 20 min mile (3 mph) depending on terrain and your Hike Leader. Walks are usually from 4-6 miles. Elevation gains are easy to moderate but generally flat (see elevation gain in walk description as there might be some hills!). There is a short snack break at the half-way point. Drive times 10-30 min locally.

2) TRAIL HIKES – terrain could vary from paved multi-use trails, earthen trails, granite surfaces, uneven surfaces, rocky creek crossings, dirt roads, etc. Read the Details your Hike Leader has written in the hike description. Most of our hikes also provide map links which contain detailed data about the hike, which gives you super-great info to decide if the hike is "right" for you. Hikes can vary in: A) Trail Rating from Easy to Moderate, B) Length from 4 to 10 miles, C) Elevation Gains up to 1,800-ish feet, and D) Average Pace from 20 to 30 mins per mile. Breaks are dependent on the variables of each hike. Drive times can vary from 10-40 mins locally to 120-150 mins to our beautiful outlying areas. Estimated drive times or Google pin locator links are usually provided in the hike description too.

3) PHOTOGRAPHY HIKES – terrain could vary from paved trails, earthen trails, and/or dirt roads. Range can vary from 4-8 miles. There will be plenty of stops for photo opportunities and sharing of knowledge. Varying drive times of 30-120 mins to trailheads.

- - - - - - - - - - -

Golden Soles is solely a social, non-professional, volunteer group. Only you can assess your abilities to attend a hike and are solely responsible for your safety and well-being. Please familiarize yourself with Meetup's Terms of Service.

The Hammerin' Wheels Mountain Bike Club

The Hammerin' Wheels are all about being active on your bicycle. Our club is divided into 3 separate group sites. You are currently on the Mountain bike site. We ride mostly on dirt trails but do ride paved trails/roads when necessary for trail connectivity. Rides, may break into sub groups based on skill/fitness of rider turnout or rides may indicate a required level of skill and fitness to participate. Members should always be familiar with the trails they intend to ride and what skill and fitness is required before participating. Our group is currently looking for folks who are interested and willing to lead novice and beginner rides. If you are a novice or beginner and interested in joining this group, please consider requesting to be an Event Organizer to help us keep our novice and beginner riders rolling in the dirt.

If you want to hit the pavement at a "casual" pace you will want to visit Here you will find rides that very from 10-30 miles usually on flat paved roads or trails where speed tends to be in the 8-12 mph range.

So who are we and what are we about? Simply put we are a growing group of cyclists in the Sacramento area who enjoy the company of others while riding bikes. We try to cater to everyone on some level. It doesn't matter if you are a hardcore cyclist, or if you ride purely for the social aspect. We welcome riders of all levels on all terrains. However, for beginner and novice riders, we ask that you come well prepared and comfortable navigating the trails on your own if there are no volunteer ride leaders to guide your groups.

This group is all about having fun and being safe while riding. Due to health and safety reasons, please observe and adhere to the following:

*A HELMET IS REQUIRED for all our rides! We reserve the right to turn you away from riding with the group if you do not have one.

*Pets are not allowed to accompany you while riding with our group during an organized Hammerin' Wheels event. Pets (if well behaved) may be permitted during "pre" or "post-ride" activities if approved in advance by Event Host.

*Kids under 18 are not permitted to join any Hammerin' Wheel event unless accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.

*Smoking/vaping around others in the group before, during, or after a ride is NOT permitted.

*Due to COVID issues, we respectfully ask that you refrain from spitting while riding with the group. If you absolutely need to clear your nasal passages (we get it), out of respect for others, please use a hanky or step far away from the group and do so discreetly off the trail.

*Organizers reserve the right to turn people away before or turn them back during a ride if they feel a rider is in over their head. If you have any questions for whether a ride is right for you, please feel free to contact the ride organizer.

*If your profile has not been filled out, you may be contacted by a ride organizer to determine your skill level fits the posted event.

Courtesy on the trails

Yield: Yield means slow down, establish communication, be prepared to stop, and pass in a safe and friendly manner. Hikers yield to horses, and bikes yield to hikers and horses as shown by the arrows on the multi-use yield sign.

Respect. It's a simple concept: If you offer respect, you are more likely to receive it. All trail users have rights and responsibilities to each other, and to our trails.

Smile. Greet. Nod. How are you perceived by other trail users? Even if you are a caring and friendly individual, with your helmet, sunglasses and a facial expression concentrating on the trail, you may appear intimidating to other trail users. Smile, say "Hi!" and ring your bell if you have one. It will promote goodwill on the trail and happiness to the trails community that we are a part of.

· Ring your bell before you approach so as to not startle them.

· Scan the trail ahead for other trails users.

· Anticipate other trail users and ring your bell around corners or in blind spots.

Don't block the trail. When taking a break, move to the side of the trail. Don't stop or lay a bike or backpack on the trail, especially on a blind comer.

Don't tune out. If you need to listen to music wear earbuds. It is best to only wear one earbud at a low volume so you hear any communications of other trail users.

Ride in Control Speed, inattentiveness and rudeness are the primary sources of trail conflict among user groups. If you need to pass, slow down, ring a bell or verbally announce yourself, and wait until the other trail user is out of the path. Use extra caution around horses, which are unpredictable. Be extra aware when riding trails with poor sight lines and blind corners, and make sure you can hear what's going on around you.

Encounters with Equestrians Stop your bike and ask equestrians if it is ok to pass. Horses are easily startled. Horses recognize the human voice more so than bells. In general, if you meet an equestrian on a trail,

· Stop and move to the downhill side to let them pass.

· Talk to the rider and respect how they prefer to pass with their horse.

The rider will appreciate your courtesy.

Encounters with other Cyclists: When approaching other cyclists, the biker going uphill has the right-of-way. This courtesy is extended to not break the climbers momentum and because it is easier to restart when going downhill if there is a need for someone to stop for a safe pass. Note that the person with the right-of-way can choose their path. They may not follow the convention of staying to the right if that is not their best path, even on fire roads!

Keep singletrack single Ride thru puddles, not around them.

Please remember that the members of the Leadership Team of this group are all volunteers. They do this for nothing more than their love of riding. They put a lot of time and effort into setting up these events, with that said please show them the courtesy and keep your RSVP up to date.

If you choose to RSVP "Yes" for an event, Please follow through and show up. It is not fair to the rest of the group to sit around waiting for someone who is never going to show. If you develop a pattern of this behavior you will be removed from the group. We understand that "life happens" and you may need to change an RSVP at the last minute. In this event please try to contact your event organizer to let them know.

Attending events

When attending events you will be given a time to meet. Rides are normally scheduled to leave 15 minutes after the meet time. As an example if the calendar indicates a 9am meet time the ride is scheduled to begin at 9:15am. If you need additional time to unload, set up, warm up, etc, please arrive early. Rides will leave as close to on time as possible. If you show up 5 minutes before the start of the ride you risk being left behind. Please don't be "that guy", it is extremely disrespectful to those who took some personal responsibility to get there on time. Again, please arrive early!

Information about email and your settings

If you are not a fan of email you will want to update your settings at the following link. Click here to update your email settings! There are a number of options that can be turned off to help ease your pain. I would highly suggest you leave the "Special announcements from Organizer(s) to members" checked so you can receive important messages from the group Organizer(s)

Post event survey

If you attend an event please take 30 seconds to fill out the post event survey. This is a valuable tool for the Organizing team as it allows us to make the events better in the future. This is your chance to provide feedback you may have about the group, both good and bad. Please try to keep your criticism constructive.

We are ALWAYS seeking people who are interested in setting up and leading rides, for all level of riders (especially the slower paced rides!!) and in all surrounding areas. If this sounds like something that may interest you, please let me know.

This is a public group and we take lots of pictures. In regards to ownership, once photos are uploaded to the site they become property of the club. If you are at all concerned with property rights please do not upload anything to the site.

While there are no fees to join this group, this group is not free to operate. This group runs strictly on donations, sponsorship from local businesses and clothing sales. If you like what we do please take a second to visit the donation center and make a donation to the club. We are asking for a minimum of $5 a year. Once your donation has been received you will earn the "Group Supporter" badge!

Any money received in excess of the operating costs will be placed back into the group for value add items like door prizes, official HW event support costs and of course the now world famous Hammerin' Wheels Birthday Bash (summer BBQ). You can use the Paypal link on the home page or you can use the button below.

If you would rather use standard mail to donate please email the organizer directly. We will also accept any donations in person if you are not comfortable using standard mail or the online method. Thank you in advance!

Baby Boomer Singles

Sacramento, CA

Baby Boomer Singles

Thank you for checking us out. We got together and decided that the time was right for a truly welcoming group targeting the single baby boomers in our community. No need to sit home anymore, give us some ideas for fun activities and we will make it happen. Our goal is to have an environment where everyone is welcomed and feels comfortable. We are NOT a "dating" group. We are a social group enabling singles to find friends and enjoy activities.

By the way, Baby Boomers are those born between 1946 and 1964.

We would like to point out the following, so things will run smoothly:

1. We now charge an annual membership fee of $5.00 to cover administrative fees, membership fees, and supplies. If you choose to join our group, you will have a 180-day trial period (due to coronavirus restrictions) before you need to pay dues. Come check us out and see if we are a good fit foor you! Dues are suspended until September 2022.

3. New members are encouraged to attend a HOSTED event for their first event so they are greeted and introduced to members. Some of our events are non-hosted (no name tags, no one to officially welcome members) and those are better to attend once a new member has been to a few hosted events.

4. When you are planning to attend any event you need to RSVP (YES) and if for any reason you can't attend that event you need to change your RSVP to (NO). (This is very important). If you can't get to a computer to RSVP (NO) you can email us to let us know you can't attend and why. Due to the large number of member "No-Shows" and in fairness to the rest of the group, anyone who No-Shows 4 times will be removed from the group.

5. When attending a physically active event (hiking, biking, walking, etc.) please participate at your own risk. The Baby Boomers are not liable for any injury or health issues you may have.

We look forward to seeing you at your first event!

Women and Wine

Amici e Vini Sono Meglio Vecchi

Friendship and Wine Improves with Age!

Wine, like friendship, gain in quality and taste every passing year. There’s nothing like coming together with some girlfriends, sharing some laughs, and connecting over a glass of wine!

Life has many chapters. Whether you’re single, married, younger, older, a mom with littles ones in need of some adult conversation, an empty nester, a workaholic, new to the area, or whatever the case may be….you can find a warm welcome within this group.

Wine is just a conversation waiting to happen! - Jessica Altieri

This group can look forward to getting together at various wine bars, restaurants, and events throughout the Sacramento and surrounding area (Midtown, Downtown, Folsom, Roseville, Natomas, etc). As the group expands - so will the events!

“Friendship between women is different than friendship between men…We talk about different things. We delve deep…It’s my women friends who keep starch in my spine and without them, I don’t know where I would be.”- Jane Fonda, Vanity Fair, January 2015

I decided to take the plunge and create this group during these crazy times because I find myself missing the opportunity to connect with others of all different ages and backgrounds.

As the battle of COVID-19 evolves, this group will navigate appropriately by adhering to local, state and federal authorities.

So, Wine Babes…let’s create meaningful connections and friendships through the art of sipping wine!

***Wine Babe Golden Rules***

-Please keep your RSVP up to date. A YES is a commitment to coming. You’re RSVP should be firm by 12 pm the day before. Should you not be able to attend after the RSVP deadline, it will be considered a no-show.

-Waitlisted wine babes will be automatically moved to yes and are asked to confirm via private message to the host or comment on the event directly to firm plans, otherwise, it will be considered a no-show.

-3 Strikes and you’ll be on pause for 3 months. A no-show or last-minute cancellation will be considered a strike. You will be sent a message inviting you back to sign up for events once the 3 months has completed.

-Events are not free. Either you’re paying for your drink and/or meal at a restaurant or contributing to a potluck type get together.

-Consume and contribute. Be a part of the group and be involved.

-General courtesy. Be nice. Be kind. Avoid vulgar topics. Know your audience and generally be mindful of your behavior. If any of the above are deemed inappropriate, you will be removed from the group without notice.

-Last, this group has a $10 annual fee membership. WHAT?! After much thought, I decided a fee is very much needed and it will go directly towards planning exclusive and creative events. These events go beyond a simple reservation at a restaurant. They include pre-planned wine tasting adventures, themed wine parties hosted at a home, discounts or extended happy hour pricing at restaurants specific to our group, et cetera. The list goes on.
