Kern Valley Hiking Club
Welcome to the Kern Valley Hiking Club! The club was founded in the 1985 by the Jenkins Family as they authored their books. It is recommended that you purchase their books Exploring the Southern Sierra: West Side and Exploring the Southern Sierra: East Side. The author is J.C. Jenkins and Ruby Johnson Jenkins. We refer to the description in these books to tell you about the hike that you are attending.
The Kern Valley Hiking Club is for people that are in decent shape that want to get outdoors and experience fun places without getting too extreme about it. The club is committed to hiking on Saturday every other week. The hikes don't need to take all day, but they can if members want. The members will decide on the day of each hike what the next hike will be. The boundaries are defined by the books Exploring the Southern Sierra by Ruby Jenkins. All of the hikes will either be in her book, or in places nearby not listed in the book. If nobody has a brilliant idea, or a burning desire for where the next hike should be then we will need to pick one from the book as our secondary option. To do this each week we can generate 5 random numbers which will correlate to pages in Ruby's Book, and members will pick from one of those. Physical activity is part of a healthy lifestyle, and if you are looking for some people to go with you to a particular place then you have found the right group.

Bakersfield Board and Card Gamers
Come get in a game! <br>
Although only a few people usually rsvp, so it sometimes doesn't look like it, we've been getting together for 5+ years, and playing online at least weekly (Friday nights is our usual night) since Covid lockdown started. Watch for Saturday live meetups where we can get our tabletop game fix.
For the Friday night online groups check out BoardGameArena dot com* and while you're there register for a free or premium account.
There are a few restrictions on a free account, but there is still a lot of value. Like you can chat and join groups and play almost all the games as long as someone else hosts the premium games.
With paid (a few dollars a month) premium accounts you can host even the premium games and multiple people at the same location can play without needing to use hotspots for additional players. Most members just start out using the free account.
We've played Puerto Rico, Tokaido, Stone Age, Saboteur, Carcassonne, Sushi Go, Quantum, Hanabi, No Thanks!, Welcome To, Hoarders, Can't Stop, Clans of Caledonia, Takenoko, 7 Wonders, No Thanks!, Incan Gold, and lots of others.
Wanna play a game?
After you've read the above and created your BoardGameArena account, please email me at MikeyMikeyGamer at gmail dot com and I'll invite you to our Discord server where the games are discussed and the links are shared.
*As far as I know, none of us have any ownership or other relationship with BoardGameArena other than end-user.
We're a group of local WordPress developers, designers, and publishers from beginners to experienced users. We're currently getting together to share our knowledge and experience, and to meet other WordPress users in the area. This WordPress Meetup is open to all who love WordPress --- join us!
