The Washington Center is staging a film-live music event centered around Dirty Dancing. This is how they describe it:
Join us for this classic film’s first live film-to-concert experience. Enjoy the digitally remastered hit film like never before on a full-size cinema screen, with a live band and singers performing the film’s iconic songs. With a soundtrack that marked a generation, Dirty Dancing in Concert promises to bring a thrilling new and unique experience to the 80s classic.
Directly following the film, the band and singers will throw an encore party that will surely take you back to the time of your life as you sing and dance along to your favorite Dirty Dancing songs.

While this has been on my radar screen for a while, I did not anticipate how popular it would be (apologies) and, in buying my ticket, I noticed that there are currently nine seats left! Nine! And they are scattered all over the theater. :( The good news, of course, is that there’s virtually no bad seats at the Washington Center. Tickets currently range from $49-$73. (My ticket is for seat B14.)
If you are interested, commit and buy your ticket now. :)
Also, once we have a few RSVPs here, I’ll contact folks about setting up dinner plans for 5:30–6 p.m. before the show. Right now I’m thinking Pizzeria La Gitana but I can totally be persuaded to go someplace else within walking distance of the Washington Center.
BTW, I don’t usually dance, but I could be persuaded to hang around the the film’s afterparty—or go get a drink somewhere.
