What we’re about

Finding “neurokin” - others who naturally understand the Autistic brain and ways of connecting - can make it easier for Autistic kids to form close and lasting connections and friendships. We are a group of families seeking community and connections for our elementary school age Autistic kids. All children can form friendship with kids of all neurotypes. At the same time, we also know that friendship can form with greater ease when the children share inherent traits. The mutual and intuitive understanding that often exists amongst “neurokin” can lead to more deep and meaningful connections for our kids who often struggle with allistic (non-Autistic) peers. In this group, we are committed to actively dismantling ableist ideals in our society, culture, and selves. We are affirming of neurodiversity in all of its forms and we reject ideologies and frameworks that view the Autistic brain, behavior, and experience as pathological and in need of “fixing” or curing. We welcome self-diagnosis and informal diagnosis. We gather to invite our children into opportunities for connection and the building of relationships in ways that come naturally to them. If this resonates with you, please join us! [This is a group for children and their parents or guardians. All attendees under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian with them for the entire duration of any event or meet up.]
