Attention: The event date and time is Saturday, May 10 at 8am to 4pm EST, the time shown may be different on the event announcement due to my publishing in a different time zone.
I am currently committed to driving others so there will need to be someone offering to drive within the 4 who are signiup for the event. I will keep people apprized of the driver availability.
I hope this will be a series of expeditions to Toronto, to take in some of the interesting areas. Up for consideration are the pawn shops along Church St, Dundas Square, Metropolitan University (Ryerson), a day on Cherry Beach (later in the summer), Distillery District and others. Will be open to suggestions.
I’ve placed everyone on a Waitlist and will move individuals to “attending” as the numbers come in and I know how many are prepared to drive. If you are planning on participating we will doing a fair amount of walking.
The first visit will be to the St Lawrence Market and the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO).
The market is in the centre of historic Old Town Toronto, close to the hub of today’s downtown and is comprised of three buildings that have served as Toronto’s social centre, City Hall and marketplace throughout the city’s history. Artisans and specialty food vendors offer visitors the unique and lively atmosphere of an authentic farmers’ market—just as they have been doing for more than 200 years. Have a light breakfast or skip entirely, so you have room for some of the Market’s offerings. Drivers are rquested to have a cooler in their trunk for items that have been purchased at the market.
Afterwards we’ll take a short drive over to the AGO, at 317 Dundas St W and take in the collection. Admission is $30 and some visiting exhibits have an additional fee. See AGO’s website for more details.
Plan is to meet at the Jamieson Plaza, located just north of the 401 at the Townline Rd exit in Cambridge, 100 Jamieson Parkway. Those carpooling are expected to share the cost of transport and parking with their driver. I expect we would start our return trip around 4pm which would get you home in time for any Saturday night plans. While at the venues you’re welcome to break off by yourself or others. It’ll be your responsibility to meet at prearranged locations.
