What we’re about

Finland needs some meetup action in the QA and software testing professional community! We want to resurrect the meetup culture, share knowledge, increase skills and promote the QA -field as a whole. We'll organize meetups with different themes, bring new and exciting ideas into light so the participants can stay on top of the game in their professional lives. We want people to see each other in person as well as remotely, and this meeting of new people is also one of the reasons we started the group. Join the fun and be active!

    2. Sami Söderblom from Qlarify

    Jamina's presentation
    Title: From Trainee to Lead: Lessons Learned from a QA Journey
    Abstract: How do you grow from knowing nothing about IT to becoming a QA chapter lead in just a few years, and what can that journey teach us about testing and quality?

    I’ll share my path from trainee to senior to chapter lead, including impostor syndrome, mistakes, and lessons learned that have shaped my thinking. Along the way you will hear about the challenges of starting test automation from scratch, learning what sets great testing apart from average and how mentoring others taught me as much as any certification ever could.
    Most importantly, we’ll explore what quality really means in practice and how curiosity, persistence and community can shape a career in QA.

    Sami's presentation
    Title: Flipping The Script: QA Teams Still Matter
    Abstract:

    NOTE: This session is a "closed beta" type of session where audience role is essential in creating discussion and also shaping the content of this talk which will be presented later in a testing conference.

    When the whole world warns about the risks of building dedicated QA teams, you naturally agree. Experts, books, and conferences like Agile Testing Days all say the same: It is an antipattern that harms company's ability to build something of quality. It would be crazy to disagree, right?
    Well, I did.
    For the past years I've been focusing on building units that employ the nation's best quality advocates (QA) - people who advocate everything that has a positive impact on quality. These people operate within the teams, but the real impact from going beyond that and into the organisation. Into leadership, culture, strategy, alignment, you name it.
    In this talk I'll share how my people and I did this in some of the biggest contexts in the Nordics, including biggest private employer in Finland. We applied familiar models such as Lisa Crispin's and Janet Gregory's holistic testing model, Dan Ashby's quality model, and much more. Delivering unprecedented results and earning significant recognition along the way.
    Come see what happens when you challenge the hype, and succeed.

    Warmly welcoming you all again,

    Brgds FTMG organizers ;
    Nina, Szilard, Jani and Mikko
