The pandemic has been one of the key factors that has promoted non-cash payments in Vietnam over the past two years. According to Visa Consumer Payment Attitudes study, sixty-five per cent of Vietnamese are carrying less cash in their wallets and 32 per cent said they would stop using cash after the pandemic. With the current developments of digital payments in the country, financial institutes (FIs) in Vietnam will need to consider a holistic strategy in digital payments that will provide an open payments system that is cheaper, faster and more secure, and can be scaled to cater to the different payment use cases, like G2C, B2B, P2P etc, in Vietnam and beyond.
