Welcome to The Banned Book Club! We are a community of local readers dedicated to challenging censorship and defending the freedom to read. Each month, we gather to discuss powerful books that have been targeted by bans—focusing on titles restricted right here in Utah as well as those pulled from shelves nationwide. If you believe that free minds require bold reads, join us for open, respectful discussions as we turn the page on censorship and read freely.

Please Note: This is strictly a non-political group, and we warmly welcome members of all political affiliations. Joining means committing to be deeply respectful of everyone in the group. To keep our space welcoming for all, we agree to stick entirely to the conversation of the book itself, rather than debating politics.
To start off with, we'll be meeting each month at Wasatch Theater Company located in The Gateway Mall (77 south Rio grande at the Gateway? Bring your own drinks (you can bring alcohol) and a food item to share with the group.
If you didn't get through the whole book - no worries! Come and socialize.

We are incredibly excited to kick off The Banned Book Club! This first gathering is all about getting to know each other, setting the stage for our future discussions, and diving into our very first read.
Note on choosing our first book (As of today, 7/16): We host all of our active discussions and polls to determine our next reads directly on WhatsApp (please join us there). We'll be officially deciding on and voting for our very first book over the next week, so make sure you join the community. Once decided, the book details will be updated right here.
