What we’re about
Note - it's more expensive to pay for classes on Meetup. Meetup charges an additional fee (that does not go to us) for any of our paid classes. To avoid paying this fee, go to our website (www.firecraftnw.com)
Join Ryan and Licia, owners of Firecraft Northwest (www.firecraftnw.com), for walks, hikes, outings, and gatherings focused on naturalist lessons, nature awareness and connection, and survival and bushcraft skills. Together, we have more than 15 years of outdoor education experience including as Executive Directors, Program Directors and instructors. You can find our full bios and learn more about us on our website: https://www.firecraftnw.com/about-us
We hope those who join us learn more about the natural world, connect with others in their community, and get inspired to keep getting outside!
We also publicize/have sign ups for all of our events on our website as well (www.firecraftnw.com), so Meetup may not reflect full attendance. We do our best to note when our events are full or when minimal spaces remain due to sign ups coming from our website.
Participants will be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival and prior to class start. For all free classes, waiver language is as follows. For paid workshops (which are longer sessions and generally include tool usage, fire, cooking, and other activities, a more comprehensive waiver is required. Let us know if you'd like to view the waiver prior to class or registration).
LIABILITY & HAZARD WAIVER I am aware that outdoor programs led by Firecraft Northwest may occur near bodies of water, such as rivers, creeks, and lakes, and that those bodies present risks such as drowning and hypothermia. I am aware that the outdoors is a dynamic space that may include uneven terrain, hazards such as falling branches, downed logs, wildlife encounters and inclement weather (e.g. rain, sleet, snow, wind, wildfire smoke). I understand that there may be use of tools during the program such as knives, axes, lighters, cordage and other equipment that could potentially result in injury. I understand that participating in the sampling of demonstration cooked and/or foraged items is at my own risk. I release Ryan Johnson, Licia Sahagun and Firecraft Northwest from any liability for injuries that might occur as a result of participating in these programs. I attest that I am in adequate physical health to participate in these programs safely, and that it is my responsibility to ensure I wear appropriate clothing for the weather. All participants are responsible for providing their own health and accident insurance.

Wild Women Walk - Cold Moon (Free)
Squaxin Park (Formally Priest Point), 2600 East Bay Drive NE 98506,, Olympia , WA, USJoin Licia from Firecraft Northwest for December’s full moon Wild Women Walk.
December’s moon is the Cold Moon (also known as the Frost Moon, Long Night Moon). We’ll gather together for a contemplative hike, followed by a conversation and short activity about letting go of lingering darkness to prepare for a new year. We’ll also do a silent stretch of walking in the woods.
To keep warm, we’ll hike the undulating Ellis Cove Trail — this is a 1.6-mile trail that has uphills and downhills as well as multiple staircases. We’ll move at a relatively slow pace so we can chat with new friends!
We’ll meet at the Squaxin Park parking lot on the West side of the road and walk to the trailhead together. More information on where to meet will be sent the week of the outing.
Parking is free. Flush toilets available at the parking lot. Trail is not ADA accessible.
This event is free, but RSVP is required.14 attendees
