We're back! Happy New Year everyone and we're kicking off with a lovely winter forage and walk around woods near Bristol and Bath. Very much beginner friendly but also for those with foraging experience.
Winter can often feel like a barren time for wild foods, but there are always exciting things to discover for the intrepid forager!
Rich will be leading this walk and some of the things we'll be on the lookout for include:
๐น Winter edible fungi like Velvet Shanks, Oyster Mushrooms and Wood Ears with advice on safely identifying and eating them.
๐น Medicinal fungi and information on how to prepare and use these medical wonders!
๐น Wild garlics (yes, in winter!) and other edible/useful plants.
Rich will also share tips on bushcraft/winter survival including the materials to look out for to get a fire going even in the worst conditions. If we have time and the weather behaves, we'll make a fire and have a brew!
Extra notes:
๐น Please dress for the weather and wear wellies or boots; it'll be muddy.
