About us
## Finding Your Strength – First Friday Women’s Workshop
Safety isn’t something you should have to hope for—it’s something you can prepare for. Join us at Kore Self Defense for our First Friday workshop, a completely free, ego-free session designed specifically for women and teen girls (13+).
It is natural to feel intimidated by the idea of a self-defense class, but our goal is to replace that hesitation with absolute confidence. Taught by our Certified Female Instructors, this workshop skips the traditional martial arts rituals and focuses purely on practical, principle-based training. You will learn to sharpen your natural intuition, trust your "gut," and build a toolkit of simple, highly effective responses to common safety concerns.
Drawing from over a decade of research, our foundational Krav Maga curriculum, and the internationally recognized 500Rising women’s personal safety organization, we focus on empowering you to navigate the world on your own terms. Instead of memorizing complex, rigid techniques that require brute strength, we teach adaptable principles—leverage, balance, structure, and targeting—allowing you to use physics and the element of surprise to your advantage.
If you want to see exactly how we flip the script on traditional self-defense—moving away from fear and toward becoming a 'hard target'—take a few minutes to watch this short breakdown of our core philosophy:

### Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need any prior martial arts or fitness experience?
- Not at all. This workshop is designed for beginners. We focus on principle-based training, meaning we teach you how to use your body's natural mechanics, leverage, and gravity rather than relying on superior physical strength or complex acrobatic movements.
- What should I wear and bring to the workshop?
- Wear comfortable athletic clothing you can easily move in. Bring clean-soled athletic shoes reserved specifically for the mats (please do not wear them outside or in the parking lot to keep the floor sanitary). Also bring a water bottle and something to take notes with.
- What actually happens during the class?
- We explore four pillars of resilience in a supportive environment: Mental (trusting intuition and spotting red flags), Technical (using physics and surprise for high-leverage movement), Tactical (everyday strategies and boundary setting), and Physical (developing natural functional power).
- Will I be forced to do anything that makes me uncomfortable?
- You are always in control. We invite you to step out of your comfort zone to grow, but if you ever feel physically or psychologically unsafe, you can opt out of any drill. We will never push you to do something you believe is unsafe. "No" is a complete sentence on and off our mats.
- What is the training based on?
- Evolved from our Krav Maga roots, the curriculum draws heavily from the 500Rising women’s safety organization. We blend threat assessment neurobiology, violence dynamics, and practical principles from martial arts like Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu to provide real solutions for women.
- Can I bring a friend?
- We highly encourage it! Training is always better with a partner you trust. Have them register so we know they are coming, and bring them along.
- How do I find the studio once I arrive at the complex?
- Enter 21240 Ashburn Crossing Dr from Loudoun County Pkwy and take an immediate left. Drive to the end of the road (pond in front, Excel Courier on right). Turn right; we are next to FastSigns. Look for the Kore Self Defense signs and come on in!
Stop wondering "What if" and start knowing "I can." We are excited to stand shoulder to shoulder with you.
