Never picked up a pair of knitting needles before? This is your place.
First Stitch is a beginner knitting group based in Amstelveen, open to anyone in the Amsterdam area who has always wanted to learn but never knew where to start.
We run small, hands-on workshops where you will learn everything from scratch, cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, in a relaxed and judgment-free setting. All materials are provided, so you just need to show up.
Your host started knitting in 2024 as a way to step away from screens, so we know exactly what it feels like to be a complete beginner. No jargon, no pressure, just good company and the satisfying click of needles.
Whether you are looking for a new hobby, a reason to slow down, or just something to do with your hands, you are welcome here.
