Neurodivergent LGBTQIA+ Peer Support Group
Details
Fish in a Tree's (virtual) LGBTQIA+ Teen Support Group is a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ teens who also identify as neurodivergent (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Learning Differences, Bipolar Disorder, and Other Neurodivergent Conditions). This support group recognizes the intersectionality of being both LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent and provides a space for individuals to connect with others who share similar experiences and concerns. The group focuses on providing support and resources for individuals to navigate the challenges of adolescence, including mental health, relationships, and identity. The prevalence of LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity overlap is significant, with studies showing that individuals who are LGBTQIA+ are more likely to be neurodivergent. Therefore, this support group provides a crucial resource for those who may feel isolated or marginalized due to their intersectional identities. By the end of the support group, attendees will have gained new insights and tools to navigate the challenges of adolescence and create a positive and empowering environment for themselves. Throughout the year, the LGBTQIA+ Teen Support Group will feature guest presenters and special events that focus on issues relevant to LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent teens. These events may include workshops, guest speakers, and social events that provide an opportunity for participants to connect with others in the community and learn new skills. The support group is committed to creating a dynamic and engaging experience for all attendees and providing a safe space to learn and grow.
