A brief history of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA)
The NACA was created in 1915 to help the US catch up to Europe in airplane technology. Forty three years later it became the basis for NASA. In between the NACA transformed aviation from a risky pastime into part of the fabric of our daily lives. This is the story of the technology and the fascinating people behind the aviation revolution.
