Goal :
Aiming to get a workout while also enjoying the natural environment and possibly seeing animals. We will move briskly. There will be rest stops and socializing as well. There will be some great views, but they are not the emphasis of the hike so we won't go to all of the famous spots.

When: Thursday, June 4th, 7:00 PM - 10:00 or 10:30 PM ,
Where: Yongchun Station exit 5.

We will depart promptly at 7:10. I will post a map of our expected route so if you're late you can try to catch us, but we may deviate from it slightly and will not answer calls or requests to wait.
We will return to Xiangshan station. The route is still being finalized and is subject to change, but the mountain is not very large and it's easy to return to the city at most points.

Difficulty : 6/10. You should be fit and ready to climb steep slopes and many staircases. For regular exercisers, this will be a good workout but not very taxing, but it will probably be hot. If you are a beginner or don't do any cardio, this won't be an appropriate hike. If the hike is too difficult, you can rest and easily return to the city at several points along our hike.

What to bring :

  • Headlamp - recommended, but a phone flashlight is possible. Much of the trail is lit.
  • Good shoes with grip. Hiking sandals are OK. Especially if it rains before the hike, surfaces may be slick.
  • Water - It is getting very hot.
  • Bug spray or long sleeves (optional. I am not often bitten but some people are bitten more than others)

Things to be aware of:
Please watch your step.
There are poisonous snakes on the trail, though they're not very common. I have seen many of them and they just move away when they see people. As long as you don't go off the trail, scare, or provoke them, they aren't a threat.

We will cancel in case of heavy rain, but I will hike anyway in drizzling rain.
