The Walk & Talk Book Club is "dishing" up a twist for December because the weather can be questionable - I thought we would try something different and call it Cooking Up Conversation -- so we talk and cook and take it from there! Please read description entirely before signing up!

First - read the book - it was just a book based on Chinese dumplings & something that often occurs around the holidays for many people - depression. Goodreads gives it a 4 - here is the description:

  • Anna Chiu has her hands pretty full looking after her brother and sister and helping out at her dad’s restaurant, all while her mum stays in bed. Dad’s new delivery boy, Rory, is a welcome distraction and even though she knows that things aren’t right at home, she’s starting to feel like she could just be a normal teen.
  • But when Mum finally gets out of bed, things go from bad to worse. And as Mum’s condition worsens, Anna and her family question everything they understand about themselves and each other.

Second: we will meet at my house - and make dumplings which is often a group task - and a traditional meal for Winter Solstice *falling on December 21st this year) or other holiday that Chinese cultures celebrate. The dumplings can be served any way you want - with miso soup, or anything - we can sample some and you can take home the rest. I will provide the ingredients to make the dumplings -- you provide some snack foods for us to eat while we "dumple- make"!

Third: Because its the holidays and book club -- bring a wrapped book -- and when it's time to leave - pick up a book and bring it home with you or we can have some fun and open the book gift with each other!

Fourth: If you have not been to one of ourbook club meets before, please dont make this one your first as Id like to know those I give my address to! I will give out my address and other information privately! If you sign up - please commit to showing up!
