Watch Nikolaus Geyrhalter’s ‘Homo Sapiens’ with us

Details
Flamingo Shanghai Cinema is going to take a break for a while, before it takes shape in another form, another time and another space. As a temporary finale, we’d like to invite you to watch the post-apocalyptic sci-fi documentary, Homo Sapiens on Wednesday, May 3.
Directed by Austrian director, Nikolaus Geyrhalter, Homo Sapiens is an archaeology study of the industrial age. It takes us to revisit amazing places we constructed, used, left behind and forgot. No dialogue, no narration, no commentary, just long static shots of these places that tells a story both real and unreal, familiar and strange, dead and living, past and future.
Giving it a five star rating, The Guardianspeculates that Homo Sapiens is perhaps inspired by Claude Lévi-Strauss’s remark: “The world began without man, and it will complete itself without him.”
Doors open Wednesday, May 3 at 7pm for a 7:30pm screening at Flamingo Shanghai , 7/F, Building 11, 207 Mengzi Road (between Xietu Road and Liyuan Road), near Madang Road metro station
RSVP to bonnie.wang@flamingogroup.com to secure a seat, and bring your name card in exchange for free beer
