What we’re about
We offer free English conversation classes every week in a welcoming and safe environment. This will help you build your confidence and improve your English speaking ability.
We want to support and help immigrants settle into New Zealand, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of our culture and lifestyle. Each week we have a different topic, so the discussions are always interesting and engaging.
We also offer workshops, social events and opportunities to connect with others, so it's a great place to meet new friends and find a place to belong. There are also opportunities to connect with our wider church family if you wish (but there is no pressure to do this).
We are completely free, and there is no placement test required. Our small group leaders are all fluent English speakers, with some speaking Mandarin and Cantonese to help translate if needed.
We meet each week at 7:30 p.m. at Baverstock Oaks Primary School and we welcome everyone, no matter what your background is.
We follow the NZ school terms which means no classes during the school holidays.
We will begin for the 2025 year on 19 February. Please message us directly if you would like to attend.

Come and join us each Wednesday evening during the school terms for a relaxed, friendly and informal English discussion class. Each week we discuss a different topic so you will have opportunities to practice your English, learn about Kiwi culture, and make new friends from around the world.
There is no charge for this, and there is no placement test required. Our small group leaders are all fluent English speakers and some speak Mandarin and Cantonese if translation is required. We are a church group, but we welcome everyone, no matter what your background is.
