This is a long day trip to the Meanders on Payette Lake with an optional overnight campout at Upper Payette Lake Campground.
The Meanders are a flooded river valley on the North Side of Payette Lake and is famous for its wildlife and easy Class 1 paddling suitable for any kayak, IK, or SUP. The parking area, located at Backwoods Adventures Canoe & Kayak Rental on Warren Wagon Road , is part of Ponderosa State Park so there is a $7 CASH fee for those without a State Park Pass.
Life jacket, Whistle, Paddle, and 2025 Invasive Species Sticker is required.
Bring water, sunscreen, hat, packed lunch.
SCHEDULE
- Meet at Winco in Eagle at 7:45 AM on Thursday July 31st, day trip only participants can carpool from this location.
- Drive to the Meanders parking area on Warren Wagon Road at the very North end of Payette Lake. Arriving ~10:45 AM
- Paddle the Meanders until ~2 PM, Drive back to Winco arrive Winco ~4:30 PM.
- Overnight campers will go to Upper Payette Lake Group Site #2, set up camp, drive to the Secesh Stage Stop for dinner and drinks before 6 PM closing time. The group campground is separate from the main campground and about a mile further down the road.
- If you plan to camp overnight the large group site has plenty of room for 7-8 tents/vehicles. Bring $1 bills to play Left-Right-Center. Small trailers are allowed but there are no hook-ups. Potable water and bathroom at the campsite.
We will plan to paddle Upper Payette Lake before departing on Friday.
Optional short stop at secret hidden garden in McCall for overnight campers.
NOTE: Due to road and bridge construction we may be delayed do not sign up for this event if you need to be back in Boise before 6PM.
