Boise Riverπ£ββοΈ Barber Park to Ann Morrison
Details
π£ββοΈπ£ββοΈ Let's float the fabulous Boise River! π£ββοΈπ£ββοΈ
We will meet at Ann Morrison Park in the parking lot between the children's playground and Americana Blvd. at the west end of the lot (see map in photos) and plan the shuttle to/from Barber Park. Enter from Americana Blvd then turn left. See the map in photos below.
The Boise often feels like a wilderness river with a few challenging class 2 rapids. Float Idaho does this section in inflatable & hard shell kayaks, SUPs, Canoes, and rafts. Please no single walled inflatable pool toys. They inevitably end up deflated and stuck on a tree root, disfiguring the serene riverbank. We will go to the Sandbar afterwards for food and laughs!
If, during the trip, you are struggling, or for some reason want to leave the river, alert your host or another experienced kayaker. There are lots of places to leave the river and climb up onto the Greenbelt.
π£ββοΈ It is mandatory that everyone wear a life jacket - a helmet is optional. Bring a whistle along in case someone is in trouble.
Here is a suggested generic gear list that you can print and keep close to your heart:
* Paddle, Lifejacket (mandatory) with Whistle
- Kayak, SUP, Canoe
- Sponge to soak water from your boat.
- Water Shoes (Shoes that can get wet, of course, but that will also stay on your feet if you get sucked into mud, protect your feet if you're walking on submerged sharp rocks, and keep out sand.)
- Dry clothes in a dry bag (optional: especially on a hot day)
- Water
* Hat, Jacket, Sunscreen, Gloves, Bug Spray
- 2026 Invasive Species Sticker (search and purchase online)
- Helmet optional.
π£ββοΈ If you are on the RSVP list, make sure you are committed to attend, otherwise please change your RSVP to No, so others on the waiting list can join us.
