Kayaking at George Winter Park

Details
JOINT EVENT WITH TAILS ON THE TRAILS MEETUP GROUP. THERE WILL BE DOGS ON OUR KAYAKS, AND WE WILL STOP AS NEEDED TO LET THEM SWIM AND COOL OFF/PLAY.
*****
River is low, so probably not much current. Which means we can paddle upstream to Minnie Ha Ha, take a break and let the dogs swim, then back downstream. Under 3 miles.
We are not going to power paddle, we don't do that. Just a lazy day on the river. If you're in a hurry, you can do your own thing, just tell someone you're leaving. You can't get lost!
If anyone wants more miles, you can paddle the lake by the boat ramp, after we finish the river. Some really nice beaches here.
B.Y.O.Boat, no rentals.
Dogs must wear life jacket at all times when on the water. If you don't like this rule, don't paddle with us.
Humans must have PFD aboard, and it works better if you wear it!
Arrive early. We try to launch right at 10:00. If you're late, catch up. Paddle out into the river channel and turn left, upstream. Not hard to find us, people in kayaks with dogs.
PLEASE DON'T BE A NO SHOW. If you're not coming, just update your rspv.
When you park, keep your car and kayak out of the "road" in the parking lot. Pull completely into the parking spot.
Please, when you're launching, stay to the LEFT on the ramp. It's very wide, but there are usually lots of big boats and trailers here too. Same when we return. Give right of way to the trailers. We're actually supposed to use the other ramp for kayaks, but that parking lot is in full sun and this one has shaded parking to keep our cars cooler.
Keep your dog on leash while on land. It's busy here. Lots of other dogs here usually,
About 3 miles, easy There are large boats and jetskis here. We've never had any problem with them. Just stay out of the middle of the river and there's no trouble.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
Use meetup mapping or your GPS to get to the park. After you enter the park, stay to the right at the fork. There are 2 ramps, you can launch from either one. We park at the second one, to keep our cars cooler for the dogs, but either one is fine.
