Little Manatee River State Park- 6.2 loop hike (Outside the Park)

*This is one of my favorite trails. Please meet us at the trailhead parking lot.
Take Note: There may be downed trees to go over or around, and the bridges are not entirely repaired but passable.

THE HIKE: A 6.2-mile hiking trail is located in the north wilderness area of the park. This stacked loop trail is accessible from U.S. 301 North from the trailhead entrance on the north side of the Little Manatee River.
The trail crosses Cypress Creek, a major tributary of the Little Manatee River, at the scenic point where the creek feeds into the river. At several points, the tall bluffs of the river bank offer picturesque views of the River.
This trail has some ups and downs, as well as sun and shade. The back portion of the trail tends to be wet, so bring appropriate footwear for wet conditions, just in case. There may be some muddy areas or water at this event.
We will walk at a brisk pace. Bring water, bug spray, and a hat for sun protection (although we will be in the trees, there is a slight stretch of open paths).

WHAT TO BRING: Bring enough WATER and a snack for your hike. Also, it is a good idea to bring sunscreen, a hat, bug repellent, a small first aid kit, and anything else you need to make your hike comfortable and safe.

WHAT I WEAR: I will wear long hiking pants because of the tall grasses, hiking boots, and a walking stick!

Remember, this hike is OUTSIDE the State Park.
Easy to find, it is right off U.S. Route 301 past the Canoe Outpost on the left (going north) after the bridge (across from Saffold Road).

Little Manatee River State Park charges a $5 fee to enter (you will need cash as it's only a box; no change back). Fees are per vehicle or visitor.
