Full Buck Moon & Sunset Beach Hike NORTH Lido Beach

Details

Buck Full Moon Hike: The Full Moon in July 2025, known as the Buck Moon, will occur on Thursday, July 10, at 4:37 p.m. Eastern Time. In Sarasota, Florida, you can expect it to rise around sunset that evening.

Meet under the shaded Lido Beach Pavilion.
And after the walk, wear a bathing suit and bring a beach chair (in your car) if you'd like to swim afterward and watch the full moon.

FOR THE HIKE:
Lido Nature Preserve and Sunset Beach Walk.
A nice walk to the preserve, which is shady with trees, then back on the hard-packed beach coastline for the sunset - about 3 miles.
We will start at the Lido pavilion and make our way on the trail to North Lido through the preserve and back out towards the mermaid wall, which is about 1.5 miles; we’ll then walk back along the beach shoreline. We will take a break before we walk back, watching the sunset and returning to the shore in front of the Lido Pavilion.
We will walk briskly but casually, and there should be a little ocean breeze.
Bring water, possibly bug spray, and a hat for sun protection.

SHOES: I wear FLIP FLOPS so I can take them off when we get to the beach. Some like to wear walking shoes, and that's fine too, unless you want to get your feet wet.
BRING: If it’s sunny, bring a hat; always bring water, and a snack if you'd like. AND yes it is summer, Bug spray is always a good idea.

**This event may be canceled in case of thunderstorms.
Each person coming needs to RSVP on the meetup site to participate in the hike.
You must be on the list to hike with us. If you want a friend to join, they must sign up for the meetup group and be able to hike 6 miles or more.

And yes, it always states it will rain...but it might not; that's Florida weather.
