🌿 Guided 5-Mile Hike at Myakka River State Park
Join us for a scenic 5-mile hike through the diverse ecosystems of Myakka River State Park — one of Florida’s oldest and most beautiful natural areas. This guided trek will take us through majestic oak hammocks, sunlit scrubland, and open upland prairies, offering a chance to experience the park’s incredible variety of plant and wildlife habitats up close.
As we hike, I’ll share information about the area’s ecology, native plants, and wildlife, helping you see the landscape through a naturalist’s eyes. Expect a relaxed pace with time for discussion and observation.
⚠️ What to Know:
- The hike is approximately 5 miles round trip.
 - Meet at the Meadow Sweet Pastures Trail Head (Just before the road split headed north from entryway)
 - Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended — some sections may be sandy or uneven.
 - Bring plenty of water (at least 2 liters per person) and bug spray, as mosquitoes and other insects are common in parts of the trail.
 - Sun protection (hat, sunscreen) is also encouraged, as the upland prairie areas offer little shade.

This is a great opportunity to get outdoors, learn about Florida’s ecosystems, and meet others who enjoy exploring nature. All experience levels are welcome — just come prepared for a few hours on the trail!
