Low Fox Road, Myakka River State Park 5 -7 miles
Details
THE HIKE: about 5 - 7miles depending on the trails’ condition and where we go.
We will hike the LOW FOX Road and the Florida Trail back to Low fox Road.
We will take small regular breaks.
WHAT I WEAR: I will wear long hiking pants because of the tall grasses on the off-trails and hiking boots with a walking stick! So, if you dislike walking through tall grass, this might not be your hike. IF HEAVY RAINS OCCUR IN THE PRECEDING DAYS, THERE MAY BE WATER TO WADE THROUGH. So please wear closed-toe shoes.
WHAT TO BRING: Bring enough WATER and a snack for your hike. Also, a good idea to bring sunscreen, a hat, bug repellent, small first aid kit, and anything else you need to make your hike comfortable and safe.
WE WILL MEET at Low Fox Road; you’ll see my JEEP (Silver white top) on the side of the road.
Myakka River State Park charges a fee to enter. Fees are per vehicle (less for single-occupant vehicles)
NOTE: We hike as a group; participants must be able and willing to hike the entire route at a brisk pace. We cannot allow anyone to try and find their way back to the car alone should they decide they don’t want to continue. The hike will be canceled without notice in heavy rain or inclement weather. Please check the local forecast before arriving.)
If you want Guest to come, they need to sign up on Meetup: this is a wilderness hike.
YOUR RSVP TO ATTEND THIS SPONSORED EVENT IS YOUR EXPRESS ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING AND UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE OF FULL PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND LIABILITY FOR ALL ASSOCIATED RISKS.
**You MUST be on the list to hike with us, and you should be able to walk 6 miles or more at a good pace.
There is a food truck (Gator Cafe) at the park near the lake if we want to get something to eat afterward. That’s just up to everyone on their own.
Again, a Reminder: if it’s summertime, we could be walking in puddles (I love walking through puddles), and I bring a walking stick, too. So wear appropriate shoes—sneakers or hiking boots…
I wear my hiking boots because they’re safer than sneakers.
If you need to text me, 850-591-1329.
And, if you bring a friend, they must sign up for the hike through our Meetup group.
