This is a living history, pioneer day event with blacksmithing, live demonstrations, and should be a wonderful event. There will be candle making, flint making, basket maker, archery and storytelling.

  • there are also hiking trails.

The Crowley Museum and Nature Center is a 191-acre farmstead established in 1878. The site includes a rare Florida habitat, pioneer buildings, and heritage farm animals. For 40 years, Crowley has provided children’s programming that explores pioneer history, develops self-reliance, creates a connection to nature, and imparts practical skills for living, like wilderness survival and farming, in a real-world setting.

HIKE: The self-guided nature trail winds through the Crowley property from high and dry pine flatwoods, through the shady oak hammock, over the Maple Branch swamp, and out to the edge of the expansive Tatum Sawgrass Marsh along the Myakka River where there is a 1/2 mile boardwalk and an two story observation tower.

MEET: Welcome Center - See the map and text me only on the day of the event at 850-591-1329 (include your full name).

BRING: If it’s sunny, bring a hat, always bring water, and a snack if you like. Bug spray and sunscreen are always a good idea, as well as a small emergency kit..

FLORIDA: Yes, it always states it will rain, but it might not; that's Florida

NOTE: May cancel upon inclement weather or lack of sufficient interest.
We will take small, regular breaks.
