RfRx - The Truth About Facilitated Communication, Featuring Janyce Boynton
21 attendees from 43 groups hosting
Hosted by RfR - Florida Chapter
Details
This week on RfRx, we are joined by Janyce Boynton to discuss Facilitated Communication (FC), a scientifically discredited technique which is claimed to allow non or minimally speaking people, such as those with severe autism, to communicate.
Though appealing to parents, caregivers, and educators, FC is rejected by major autism, education, and health organizations because controlled studies show that the Facilitators are actually the ones composing the messages. Despite this, believers continue promoting and using FC, claiming that it works on faith, and saying it cannot be scientifically tested.
Janyce is a former Facilitator, who will share her firsthand experience about why she once believed in and practiced FC, and what drives her to now denounce this harmful practice on[ FacilitatedCommunication.org](https://www.facilitatedcommunication.org/).
Join us either in Zoom (where you can ask questions), or watch the show live in YouTube. And remember to stay for the Zoom hangout after the show!

The primary focus of a Recovering From Religion support group is to provide ongoing and personal support to individuals as they let go of their religious beliefs. This transitional period is an ongoing process that can result in a range of emotions, as well as a ripple effect of consequences throughout an individual’s life. We are here to help each other through this journey.
There is no cost to attend RfRx but, if you feel so inclined, donations can be made at http://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/donate
Any time you are struggling with religious doubts or fears you can connect with a trained RfR Helpline agent 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To chat online go to http://www.recoveringfromreligion.org.
