The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of Sisters in Crime is pleased to announce the featured speaker at the August 2022 meeting will be author Cindy Martin. Location: Via Zoom and in-person at the William H. Jervey, Jr. Venice FL Public Library, 300 Nokomis Ave S, Venice FL 34285. After the meeting, in-person attendees will gather at Made in Italy restaurant, 117 W Venice Avenue, Venice FL 34285 for a social lunch.

Cindy Martin presents behind-the-scenes of America’s Most Wanted. With 20 years working as a producer, primarily in Florida, she will discuss how the media and law enforcement teamed up to fight crime, solve cases and bring missing children home. Cindy will share video clips of cases she worked on and the stories behind them. She lives in Broward County working on her debut mystery thriller novel. She is a member of National Sisters in Crime, the Florida Gulf Coast SinC., the SinC Guppies, and Mystery Writers of America (MWA).

Cindy Smith Martin graduated with a BA degree in Communications Radio/TV/Film from Rowan University, New Jersey. Her career began as a morning radio news anchor at several popular radio stations before making the leap to television where she was a reporter in cable tv in New Jersey. She moved to Florida in 1990 for a reporter job covering state politics and crime for Florida Public TV Crossroads in Tallahassee. In 1993 she moved to Washington DC and produced news segments from the White House and Capitol Hill. She landed her dream job at America’s Most Wanted in 1994 as a producer where she teamed up with law enforcement to develop fugitive and missing child cases to broadcast throughout the country. Her position involved travelling throughout the U.S. and South America where she worked with International, Federal, State, County and Local law enforcement as well as victims and their families to hunt down fugitives and bring closure. FOX network cancelled the show in 2013 after 25 years.
