Description:
Join Florida Gulf Coast Sisters in Crime as we welcome two of NYFD’s bravest, Tony Pascucci and Mike Owney, who will share their expertise and experience working as fire investigators for the NYC Fire Department and as a private consultant with the insurance industry. Tony and Mike will cover:
· Fires and how they may start, both accidentally and purposefully
· How fire investigators work, what they look for in determining accident or arson, and
· How arsonists work and try to cover their tracks.
They will draw on real life cases from their own investigations to highlight their talking points and bring along tools of the trade for those attending in-person to examine more closely (an added bonus for attending in-person). Tony and Mike will join us for lunch afterward for more informal discussions.
Biography:
Retired NYC Firefighter Tony Pascucci served 32 years in the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) in the busiest firehouse on the planet, including six years as a fire marshal investigating fires in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens.
Tony's good buddy Mike Owney, retired as a FDNY Lieutenant after 24 years’ service, including ten years as a fire marshal. He subsequently taught fire investigation at the Bureau of Fire Investigation, including two years as lead instructor, and worked in the private sector as a fire investigator for the insurance industry. Both now live in New Port Richey, Florida.
