Another Pleasant Shark Valley Sunday

Details
It's shaping up to be a great day to bike the Shark Valley Tram Trail and maybe our last opportunity to enjoy some cooler weather before it heads north for summer!
Located in Everglades National Park, Shark Valley is a 15-mile long, paved loop that offers visitors an opportunity to view an expanse of natural beauty and an abundance of wildlife including gators, snakes, turtles, a wide variety of birds and... did I mention gators?! These pre-historic beasts rule the Glades and are often found sunning themselves along the trail. At the mid-point of the loop, there is a landing and an observation tower where we will stop for a short break and bite to eat, if you're so inclined. We will ascend the ramp for a breathtaking view of the River of Grass, as it is the highest elevation in the Everglades, and on a clear day, you can see for miles.
THIS EVENT IS WEATHER PERMITTING.
IMPORTANT: if you need to rent a bicycle, you may want to reserve in advance, as they typically have limited availability the day of. Please contact the visitors' center: 305-221-8776.
ALSO: the entrance fee is $20-35 per vehicle. This covers all people in a vehicle, so carpooling is recommended. The park also offers an annual pass, and an option to park on Tamiami Trail and bike in for a reduced fee. You can purchase any of these passes at the gate, or in advance at: [Fees - Everglades National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)](https://www.nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/fees.htm)
PLEASE NOTE: The park opens at 8:30AM. In order to beat the rush, we plan to meetup in the parking lot, outside of the visitors' center at that time, and hit the trail around 9:00AM. This will be more of a leisurely ride, with wildlife photo ops along the route. All skill and stamina levels are welcome. The loop is also a beautiful spot for walkers, biking and walking, and for anyone who may want to ride the tram on a park-sponsored, guided tour.
Temperatures are expected to start off cool but will warm up as we ride; please dress accordingly. PLEASE bring water, lunch or snacks, sunscreen, and anything else you may need for a few hours in the Everglades.
We look forward to seeing you out there!
