On Jan 10, 1971, 38 people in 21 boats (12 kayaks & 9 canoes) launched at the Main Street boat ramp in New Port Richey to paddle the Pithlachascotee (aka the “Cotee” or “Cootie”) for the first paddle trip of the newly formed Florida Sport Paddling Club. Quite a turnout!!

A small* celebration of the 55th Anniversary of FSPC's 1st TRIP :
This year on Sat. 1/10, we'll paddle on Alexander Springs Run instead.
Meet at 9 am at the put-in on CR 445, on the W side of the road bridge. This pretty creek has clear water, and is wide some areas and has narrow channels in others. We can either do up & back/ then down & back (total about 4-6 mi), or just downstream about 5.5 mi with a shuttle. Bring snack or lunch.
* Limited parking, so limit of 10.
