Highlighted Hike of the Month

Details
Welcome to the second Highlighted Hike of the Month! We have a hike featured each month in our Central Florida Chapter newsletter and website (https://sites.google.com/floridatrail.org/cfcfta/home), and we will be leading a hike there on the first Saturday of each month. The October hike is in Seminole State Forest. Parts of this hike go through Scrub Jay habitat! This will be a loop hike of approximately 8 miles total. We will hike at about 3 miles/hour with a 15 min rest break. Consider this a moderate hike. There is a point where hikers can take a forest road back to the trailhead for a 5.5 mile loop. Depending on the rain just prior to the hike, there may be a wet/muddy areas. There are also quite a few sunny sections. Please prepare accordingly.
What to Bring?
- Please bring plenty of water for all in your group. you may need to drink more than 2 liters (68 ounces) per person to stay safe in the heat. There is no access to potable water at the trailhead or on the route.
- Insect repellent a must.
- Sun protection is a must (There are sunny and shady sections).
- Weather-appropriate clothing (think moisture-wicking, bug, and sun protection)
- Hiking or comfortable walking footwear. (Trails MAY be wet in some areas. Footwear that drains and dries quickly is recommended when hiking in Florida.)
- a snack for the break during the hike
