The Palm Beach County Florida Master Naturalist Program teaching team has posted its annual Coastal Systems course!

If you’re interested in getting to know your coastal waterways and its wildlife a bit better, this course may be for you! Upon completion, you’ll earn a patch, pin and certificate from the University of Florida (and make a whole lot of like-minded adult friends).

***This is not a FTA Loxahatchee Chapter event, but supports backcountry knowledge and wildlife safety.***

Annual PBC Florida Master Naturalist Coastal Systems Course - Registration Now Open!

August 13 - September 9, 2025
Hybrid online* with in-person field trips
Cost: $350.00/person

Through classroom, field trip, and practical experience, the Coastal Systems Course provides instruction on the general ecology, habitats, vegetation types, wildlife, and conservation issues of Coastal Systems in Florida - Coastal Uplands, Estuarine, and Nearshore Marine Environments. The program also addresses society's role in coastal areas, develops naturalist interpretation skills, and discusses environmental ethics.

The total training consists of 40 contact hours, the scheduling of which will vary among different Instructors. The only requirements of students are enthusiasm, attendance, and completion of group final projects. Classroom learning includes four instructional videos and 12 presentations. Outside of the classroom (in-person field trips), participants will engage in hands-on field activities related to the course units.
