Scrub Jay Overnight Backpacking
Details
A short overnight backpacking trip this coming Saturday night. This trip will be very similar to my first backpacking trip 30 years ago that Sunny Piskura took me on (pictured). Lets meet at the parking lot at the front gate of Jonathan Dickenson State Park at 9am Saturday morning. No need to get a real early start, but also get to Scrub Jay camp before it get very warm. It's looking like it will be warmer than this last week, but not what I would call hot.
The loop I want I want to do closely replicating 30 years ago will be starting with the Green loop from the front parking lot heading north, over the US1 bridge outside the park, joining up with the OTLHT, and on to Scrub Jay. Sunday we'll go south joining up with the white loop until we get to the train tracks and main park road intersection, Then joining the Green loop heading south on the east side of the tracks following it to the entrance of the park where we started. Low mileage, but challenging trails with the dunes, sand, and flooded trails.
Scrub Jay Campsite does cost $44.80 which I have payed, so if we could split the cost 8 ways (Or however many join. This is capped at 8) it's quite reasonable.
Of course I plan on going to Dune Dog afterwards. All are welcome!
