Join Walter and Amy to view the Geminids meteor shower on December 13, 14 & 15. This will be a 3 day/2 night adventure.

Sunday, Dec 13 - Arrive at the Hickory Hammock Equestrian Center Campground no earlier than noon, set up camp and view meteors late into the night.
Monday, Dec 14 - Since Sunday will be a late night, we will take a leisurely 9 mile hike on the HIckory Hammock trail. We will hike 4.5 miles out, break for lunch, then hike 4.5 miles back to our campsite. The Hickory Hammock trail is a former section of the Florida Trail that is still maintained by the FTA Tropical Trekkers chapter. We will enjoy another late night of viewing meteors.
Tuesday, Dec 15 - Check out by noon unless you have made other arrangements.

Note: if the skies are clear, we should get a great view of the peak activity of the Geminids meteor shower. If it happens to be overcast, feel free to sleep well, hike, and enjoy yourself camping with friends. Feel free to bring telescopes and binoculars.

Hickory Hammock Equestrian Campground has restrooms, rustic private shower, non-potable water, fire rings and picnic tables. There are no available RV hookups or electric.

We currently have 4 campsites reserved (there are a total of 10 sites at the Equestrian Center campground). Each campsite can hold 5 people and 2 vehicles. Feel free to reserve your own campsite if you do not plan to carpool. Please let me know if you reserve a campsite so we know how many cars we can accommodate.
