Sorry folks, have had to fly interstate to nurse a loved one and won't be back til next week... Can you support us to bring another yoga program to teens with PTSD, anxiety and/or depression? We are close to reaching our campaign target - join our Walk&Talk (postponed til next Sunday). Can’t make it? Help get us there here:

Walk&Talk with The Yoga Foundation | Yoga for At Risk Youth

I am raising funds for The Yoga Foundation because I believe in the value of ‘teaching’ over ‘treating’. Quite simply, we teach people to fish – and then hand them their own fishing rod.
Please support our work by donating to my CrowdRaiser, and perhaps joining us for a Walk&Talk in nature. So many will benefit from your contribution!
I would also be very grateful for you to share the link to this CrowdRaiser page to your friends and family. The more people who can help the better!
Thank you, Jules

WALK & TALK has been snoozing for some time but we are getting the band together for a very important fundraiser in collaboration with THE YOGA FOUNDATION: Yoga for AT RISK YOUTH programs.

THIS WALK | We'll revisit our walk in the Malabar Headland National Park, accessed from the South Maroubra Beach car park. And we'll finish at THE NORTH END café for coffee/brunch. In between? At the half-way mark we’ll regroup on a mostly flat rock platform and do 15 minutes of yoga-based stretching that we can all access in walking gear, shoes on, no mats, using the nearby rocks and nature as props = ROCK YOGA. Before we head back, we’ll sit facing the horizon for a 10-min gratitude meditation amidst extraordinary scenery. So this gathering we will WALK & TALK + YOGA.

BRING | Water bottle (no plastic please), camera or phone for pics of our breathtaking coast, hat/sunscreen – even though it’s mid-winter!

COST | By donation. Guide: $10-$20 per person

TIMING | We’ll leave at 9:00am sharp. It’s a 30 min walk to near Fishermans Road, so about an hour return. Some may prefer to turn around at Magic Point which is only 20 mins each way. We'll arrive at THE NORTH END by about 11:00am. Meet us there if you’d prefer to skip the walk.

ABOUT THE YOGA FOUNDATION | The Yoga Foundation leads an evidence based movement to reduce anxiety and depression and improve quality of life among people who experience disadvantage. Yoga, mindfulness and meditation can be transformative but yoga’s often dismissed as a hobby or a luxury. It’s not. Providing evidence-based tools to combat mental illness is a necessity. More than 75% of mental health issues develop before a person turns 25 and suicide is the leading cause of death of young people aged 15-24: we need to ensure a variety of robust support options are available.

For the last ten years The Yoga Foundation has been teaching successful programs designed to reduce anxiety and depression and we’ve built expertise in this area. We’ve worked closely with at risk youth and seen first-hand the positive impact yoga has on their self-esteem, emotional regulation and stress management.

ABOUT WALK & TALK | Walk & Talk is a not-for-profit initiative of Sydney-based FLOW AND FLOURISH which exists to promote lives well led. Why walk alone? Because like me, you might enjoy it! But I also enjoy ‘meeting new people’ (ugh, that term!), and connecting community. Here’s an opportunity to explore our coastline together. Bring an old friend; meet a new one. Let’s walk and talk, in nature, on our doorstep. And if you’d prefer to wear headphones, or not talk, come anyway.
