How We Built the Slides Application for Flutter Live '18, by Kevin Gray, Software Engineer at Very Good Ventures
Flutter Desktop Embedding allows you to build apps with Flutter for macOS, Windows, and Linux and was used to run the slide presentation during the Flutter Live '18 keynote. The team from Very Good Ventures will discuss what FDE is, how to get started, and their experiences using it to build the slides application.
Kevin was born and raised in Westchester, NY and received his BS degree in Computer Science from Digipen Institute of Technology in Redmond, Washington. From there he started working at a dev agency where he built a number of native iOS and Android apps. Kevin now works for Very Good Ventures, where they focus on building apps with Flutter, including the now-famous Hamilton app.
Integrating Flutter into an Existing App, by Pete Varvarezis, Software Engineer at Capital One
The mobile team at Capital One will talk about the work they did to migrate their app's branch ATM finder feature to Flutter. They will discuss what it took to get from concept to production, how they leveraged existing application API frameworks, and the pitfalls they faced creating reusable libraries as Flutter approached 1.0.
Pete Varvarezis was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, PA and obtained his BS degree in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester NY. Pete is a technologist at heart with a passion for mobile and artificial intelligence. As a Mobile Platform Architect at Capital One, Pete helps accelerate delivery timelines by creating cross-functional solutions to problems that impact multiple domains. As Founder and Co-Organizer of GDG Wilmington and one of the GDG Regional Leads, Pete helps organize meet-ups, community mixers, and presents on the latest in Google technologies. After spending all day in front of a computer, Pete likes to unwind by playing video games (typically in front of a computer).
